Popcorn Machine

Description

Participants will have to work as a team to keep the popcorn machine running smoothly.

Objective

Keep the corn kernels inside the popcorn machine!

How the game is played

The participants must form a large circle and sit on the floor with their feet towards the circle’s center, emulating the walls of a popcorn machine.

Into this human-constructed arena, the activity leader will drop one Omnikin Six ball (corn kernel) in the popcorn machine to activate it. The game’s core objective is for the participants to use only their feet to keep the balls afloat within the circle for as long as possible, mirroring the lively bursts of popcorn within a machine.

After a while, the activity leader can add 1 or more corn kernels inside the machine and if a corn kernel falls out, the leader can decides whether or not it should go back in.

Adaptations/variations

  • The participants are lying on their backs
  • They can hit the balls only with :
    • Hands
    • Fists
    • Back of the hand
    • Elbow
  • Combine one challenge per ball. For example, for the red ball, they use the back of the hand, and for the yellow one, only with the elbow.
  • Divide participants into different circles (teams). Each circle is assigned an Ominkin Six ball of a different colour. The goal is for each team to keep their ball in the circle for the longest period of time

Specific safety rules

  • If participants use their hands, they must be careful not to throw towards other people’s heads.
